WELCOME TO WHITTON BADMINTON CLUB
IMPORTANT UPDATE APRIL 21 THE SPORTS CENTRE IS STILL CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Unfortunately, schools will still not allow external people on their sites, and have not yet introduced any Covid measures to cater for this, and as such Richmond council is still not able to open these sports halls.
At Whitton Badminton Club, the main aim is to have fun playing badminton, whilst learning/improving your existing skills. There will be two clubs on a Sunday, the first is a junior club at 3pm to 4.45pm, and the second is an adult club which will follow on from a 10 week, learn to play badminton beginner course. More details can be found below about these. Both clubs are run by Jason Brown, an experienced Badminton England Level 2 registered coach, who will be delighted to welcome any new players
WHITTON JUNIOR BADMITON CLUB
THE SPORTS HALL IS CURRENTLY CLOSED - LIKELY OPENING NOVEMBER AFTER OCTOBER HALF TERM
Whitton Junior Badminton Club is a new club starting on 17th Novermber 2019, affiliated to Badminton England. The club is open to anyone aged 10 - 18, with some experience of playing. Apart from playing games with similar age and ability juniors, with coaching, we aim to improve everyone's game, and to form a team for those who wish to start / play competitive badminton, with the odd friendly match against other junior clubs, representing Richmond Borough in the Youth Games, and potentially enter a junior league later, should players wish.
Sessions run Sundays 3pm-5pm at Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre
Sessions are run at a cost of £6 per session, however the first week is FREE, after 3 sessions, you will be required to become a club member and register with Badminton England, £5 per annum, which we will pay for the first year.
PLEASE NOTE - This is for intermediate/advance juniors, there is already a session in place for beginners at 10am-12 noon at Whitton run by the council.
WHITTON ADULT BADMINTON CLUB
Come and learn to play badminton in 10 weeks!!!!!!
I will be running a Badminton England Essentials Course once the the centre is up and running, and I deem it safe to do so. This will be for 10 weeks, all equipment provided (apart from your clothing and shoes!), no experience needed, open to everyone aged 16+
The cost for the whole course is £70 in advance.
Place are limited to enable individual attention as well as group. PLEASE MESSAGE ME EARLY TO RESERVE A PLACE TO ENABLE THE COURSE TO RUN
Following on from this, if there are enough interest parties wanting to continue playing in the same group, with additional begginers, I will run an adults beginner club, with coaching, but with the emphasis being on playing and having fun
Adult & Junior Coach
Having started playing badminton on the beach and over the park with my family, my father got me to love playing the game when I was 12 years old, and I enjoy playing and teaching badminton as much now as I did then. As a registered Badminton England Coach, I've been coaching for over 10 years now, all ages, all abilities, and I can honestly say that I get as much enjoyment out of someone learning something new, as to winning a match.
My main views in badminton.....
Everyone was a beginner once
The better you can play the game, the more fun you will have
Badminton is a social game, some of my best friends I have met through badminton.
